From 1.0.2 to 1.1.1

Seems like there's not a lot of people yet, but we'll see if anyone out there can answer this.
I bought a 1.0.2 iphone and unlocked it using ipsf. Can I go ahead and upgrade to 1.1.1 and then unlock it with V1.6, I know activation is the challenge here, has anyone else attempted this? Thanks!
